Support Groups for Teens & for Parents, Update

    Posted on August 12, 2014

Due to changes in our facilitator’s schedules, we cannot currently continue to provide the Teen & Parent Support Group.

We want to thank our three facilitators who made this group possible for the past two years.

In the Teen Support Group, through conversation and memorial activities, we helped teens learn coping skills after the loss of a family member or friend to suicide. We also offered a simultaneous support group for parents/adults who brought the teen participants.

As we move forward, we are exploring other venues and/or days to continue the Teen/Parent Group in the future.  We will keep you apprised of our future plans on this webpage and through email!

To join our mailing list, please do so on the sidebar to the right of this screen.

From all of us at SOSL, we apologize for needing to close this group.

        Hello Michelle,
I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter to suicide. I commend you for reaching out for support as talking with others is a usually a large part of our healing. You can find a group in your area on the American Association of Suicidology website: http://www.suicidology.org and selectsurvivor groups. Look under Suicide Survivors for a list of groups.
Please contact me at bonnieb@soslsd.org if you would like to receive some materials that may help in your healing.
        Warmly,
        Bonnie
