    SOSL – Telling Our Story

    Posted on March 2, 2018

SOSL San Diego is an amazing organization that provides vital and life-changing services and support to those left behind after a suicide.  However, what makes SOSL truly remarkable is you!  Survivors of suicide loss embody extraordinary strength, courage, compassion and heart.  From the day I had the privilege of stepping into the role of Executive Director, I have been firmly convinced that what makes SOSL such a strong force in the arena of suicide awareness and prevention, is the power of the story.  Our collective story, as well as our individual stories.

In March, we are launching a monthly series called “Telling Our Story’, which will be written by Allison Sampite, a former newspaper reporter.  Each month we will highlight a different survivor who will share their personal story with suicide and the difference that SOSL has made in their life.

Recently, I was contacted by “Lighting Up the Sky – a public blog that focuses on suicide prevention and awareness. They asked me to share my story – The Combination of Grace and Truth – in their ‘Our Voices Matter’ section. You can find it here:

    http://www.suicidepreventionnow.com/2018/03/the-combination-of-grace-and-truth.html

Our voices matter and we have a unique opportunity open minds and hearts to the difficult and often misunderstood topic of suicide.  As we share our stories, we educate, enlighten and encourage.  Survivors of suicide loss are uniquely gifted (although we wish we weren’t) to bring awareness about suicide with the goal of helping others heal and sometimes even saving lives!

I hope you enjoy our “Telling Our Story” series.
