    11th Annual Walk

SOSL and Directing Change held the 11th Annual Walk on Sunday, November 12th in beautiful Balboa Park.  Over 1,000 survivors and supporters came together to honor the lives lost to suicide. Thank you for your participation!

Together we all took steps to break the stigma and find hope and healing. Know that each step you took carried so much meaning and purpose; walking in remembrance but also looking to the future. This year we increased our activities to include Hope and Healing and Suicide Prevention tables in addition to our Remembrance Tent. Many friends, family and teams also participated in the Green Screen photography and walked away with a commemorative color photo, with a background of their choosing.

Here are some comments from participants in this year’s walk:

“I really liked the new format for the Resource Fair. I felt more a part of the event and included in the activities, especially what was going on at the stage.”  Resource Fair participant.

“Beautiful event. So many people touched by tragic loss. Mental disease so under-addressed by our society. Losses so wide and far-reaching. It is sad that those that are trapped cannot be brought to help easier. Hopefully, in time quiet voices will be heard and there’ll be no more lives lost. ” Marcia in Facebook Review

    “Awesome”.” incredible.”  Several attendees.

“I am deeply appreciative that it worked out that our organization was able to participate.  It was an amazing experience for me to be a part of your event.  The energy, compassion, bond and sense of community among the participants was very powerful to witness. We look forward to attending next year. ”   Resource Fair participant.
