To all of our Save A Life Walk participants & donors – THANK YOU for making the 8th Annual Save A Life Walk a HUGE success!!
Keep an eye on the Walk’s website at www.SaveALifeWalk.org, and watch the total grow as we enter the donations that were given at the event! Please note, we accept donations for this event through January, 2015, so it is still possible for us to reach our fundraising goal!
Donations can be made at www.SaveALifeWalk.org
The funds raised are critical, and ensure that Survivors of Suicide Loss (SOSL) and San Diego’s Chapter of Yellow Ribbon can continue to offer our local survivor support and suicide prevention programs. Though, the most important part of our Save A Life Walk is the coming together, the camaraderie, the community awareness & stigma reduction.

We are so grateful for your participation in the 8th Annual Save A Life Walk. Words cannot express just how encouraging it is to see all of you show up. We are moved to see so many people returning year-after-year, and to have large teams return to Walk alongside one another. This event is meant to be a day of healing, a day of hope, and we hope that you felt that throughout the opening and closing ceremonies.
For so many, coming to an event like this is difficult. We are there to honor loved ones we’ve lost to suicide, to help those left behind, to show up for people who battle mental illness and thoughts of suicide – and we rally to combat the stigma of suicide.
Know that each step you took yesterday carried with it so much meaning, so much hope!
Each year the Walk is sprinkled with both laughter and tears. We shared many encouraging moments together, including stretches led by Clint August of KBG, moving live music from local artist Jason Matkin, and the joy of seeing participants win the awesome raffle prizes!
Then there were more difficult moments, when Keynote Speaker Alfredo Aguirre shared with us sobering statistics on suicide, and when Chaplain Joe Davis shared with us that he lost his father to suicide last year. The morning closed with the hand-release of 12 doves, and then the dramatic release of 80 doves soaring into the blue sky in memory of our loved ones.
This event is a success because of its participants, so THANK YOU for being a part of it. We hope you will join us for next year for our 9th Annual Save A Life Walk!
