Beyond Surviving is a raw, beautiful, and inspirational collection of stories written by people who have survived the loss of a loved one to suicide. Our contributing authors speak frankly and from the heart. They delve into the confusion, anger, sorrow, and loneliness that can accompany losing a loved one to suicide.
Part I of this books takes us through stories of initial shock, denial, confusion and even rage at the loss of our loved one. Part II of this book walks the reader through the journey of grief. Our writers share stories on how they coped with their loss once the initial shock wore off. The stories discuss ways to cope with the “firsts” that can be difficult; holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, and “Angel Days” as we like to call the day our loved ones died.
The final part of this book explores how to work through grief, find hope and a “new normal.” This includes finding strength and turning grief into a positive healing journey. As survivors we will never forget or “move on” but can move forward and live once again.
100% of the proceeds of this book comes directly to Survivors of Suicide Loss (SOSL), San Diego, and helps us support our survivor support programs and to carry out our mission.
